When you are looking for a puppy, it's a fair question to ask the breeder what traits they were looking for when they bred the pair. This includes temperament, nerves, work ethic, physical qualities, health, and whatever qualities you're looking for including grip, aggression, guidability etc. It's also fair to ask the breeder the accomplishments of the parents, uncles and aunts and or previous litters. You don't want to get a puppy from a parent that was a fluke. Meaning, it did well, but none of its siblings did well or any other relatives. People need to keep breeders accountable, and keep bad breeders from breeding. It's also good to see what guarantees are given with the puppy. Nothing is worse than somebody that comes out all excited with an 8 week old puppy, thinking they're going to win the world championships, and I know the pedigree, and think to myself, "It will be lucky if it makes SchH I." Therefore, do your homework before you purchase a puppy. It can, hopefully, prevent a lot of heartache.
